Information

173p - Kiwi Brand cook's knife with a seven inch blade and a black plastic handle.

The 173p chef's knife is available with either a plastic handle (173p) or wooden handled version (173) and both are a great all-purpose choice for common kitchen tasks such mincing, slicing, chopping vegetables and slicing meat.

The blade is approximately seven inches long and is just under two inches wide (see diagram for detailed dimensions) while the knife edge has a double bevel and a gradual curve towards the tip.

Taking it's inspiration from Japanese knives like the Santoku and Deba style knives, this knife has a blade that is super thin, lightweight and perfectly balanced and so it excels when cutting a wide range of vegetables.

Known globally by their reputation as the best knives that Thailand has to offer, Kiwi Brand and Kom-Kom knives are both attractive and practically suited for everyday use.

The blade is made from SUS420J2 Japanese Martensitic stainless steel, which is a high carbon stainless steel alloy that is specially heat treated and tempered to ensure sharpness and unrivalled durability.  The handle is made from black polypropylene plastic handle.

I Heard about these online as good starter knives for the kitchen. Very affordable and I like the plastic handle just in case someone puts it in the dishwasher. The knife was very sharp out of the packaging and after a few passes on my leather strop with a fine stropping paste it was hair shaving sharp. I've used it for a week now and just touch it up on the strop once or twice to maintain the edge. Really good for slicing and dicing veggies.
